A ransomware group called Lockbit threatened SpaceX to publish rocket designs on the internet. Lockbit claimed to have stolen the designs of SpaceX rockets. The hacker group stated that they leaked 3,000 drawings from Texas-based Maximum Industries and that these files would soon be put up for sale. The group, which criticized Elon Musk on the dark web, made an open call.
Lockbit said it had given SpaceX until March 20th to meet its demands. Otherwise, they reported that they would start selling the stolen proprietary materials on forums. It should be noted that there has been no statement from either Elon Musk or SpaceX regarding the matter.
It was not disclosed how much money Lockbit was demanding. However, the group claiming to have access to SpaceX’s rocket designs did not share any sample files. Since they claim to have stolen over 3,000 designs, it is still unclear whether this is true or not.
Maximum Industries, the production partner of SpaceX, stated that this claim was not true. They emphasized that the designs believed to have been leaked were publicly shared by SpaceX.
Lockbit, the hacker group, is known to have recently made various ransom attempts. For example, they targeted several organizations, including the Los Angeles Housing Authority and the United Kingdom’s Royal Mail. The hackers attacked these companies, demanding ransom payments.
